Product Description

This public safety booster was recently approved by the FCC. A release date is expected soon.

The SureCall Guardian2 QR is a Class B bi-directional amplifier (BDA) for police headquarters, fire stations, hospitals, and other first-responder facilities. The Guardian2 QR services the full public safety 700MHz and 800MHz bands. This Public Safety booster significantly improves the quality and reliability of vital first-responder communications in buildings with weak signal strength.

The Guardian2 QR uses built-in safeguards to eliminate interference to public-safety networks. It is equipped with bi-directional (down-link & up-link) paths to transmit and receive frequencies. It uses advanced filtering technology for low-noise amplification of signals.

The Guardian2 QR has built-in Sentry remote monitoring. SureCall’s Sentry system allows integrators, building owners, and/or IT managers to remotely monitor and control the system through an Android or iPhone app, and a desktop web portal. Users can optimize installation by monitoring and identifying the strongest signal strength available and remotely adjusting and controlling each link or band. The Sentry system quickly identifies malfunctions and immediately notifies users via email about booster failures or over powering.

The Guardian2 QR is enclosed in NEMA-4 compatible housing. It comes with a 3-year warranty.

  • Suitable for large coverage areas
  • Powerful in-building BDA with 31dB of adjustable gain level
  • NEMA-4 rated housing with no additional NEMA enclosure required
  • Integrated 7-pin alarm and UPS port for external battery backup
  • Power control maintains maximum output power at 26 dBM
  • Automatic oscillation detection and protection system powers down the BDA to prevent harmful radio interference
  • Automatic gain control (AGC)

How it Works

The Guardian2 QR boosts signals that reach a building from the nearest radio tower, as well as signals from radios inside the building going back to the tower. This compensates for weak reception caused by distance, topography, building structure and materials, etc. The bi-directional amplifier (BDA) receives the signal from an outside antenna, amplifies that signal, and then rebroadcasts it via antenna(s) inside the building, where it can then be picked up by radios inside. In the other direction, interior antennas also pick up signals coming from radios, where they are amplified by the BDA, and then passed to the exterior antenna for rebroadcast back to the tower.

Single vs. Multiple Carrier Operation

SureCall’s rated output power of this equipment is for single-carrier operation. It is recommended that you factor in loss when dealing with multiple carrier signals. We suggest 3 to 5 db loss factor.

What is a Class B booster?

The SureCall Guardian2 QR signal booster is a 90.219 Class B Device. Under Section 90.219(d)(5) of the Federal Communication Commission’s rules, all Part 90 Class B signal booster installations must be registered with the FCC.

Signal boosters, also called amplifiers and cellular repeaters, are hardware devices that are “bi-directional amplifiers”. They amplify the signal being sent to and from the nearest cellphone tower. The FCC defines bi-directional amplifiers (BDAs) in two classifications:

Class A signal booster. A signal booster designed to retransmit signals on one or more specific channels. A signal booster is deemed to be a Class A signal booster if none of its passbands exceed 75 kHz.

Class B signal booster. A signal booster designed to retransmit any signals within a wide frequency band. A signal booster is deemed to be a Class B signal booster if it has a passband that exceeds 75 kHz.

A Class A booster is also known as a “channelized” or “channel selective” booster. A Class A booster is a narrowband booster that is capable of single channel selectivity.

A Class B booster is a broadband booster that amplifies a group of channels that fall within a given frequency range.  All Class B Signal Boosters devices must be registered with the FCC so they can be managed and shut down if found to cause interference.

WARNINGThis is NOT a CONSUMER device. It is designed for installation by FCC LICENSES and QUALIFIED INSTALLERS. You MUST have an FCC LICENSE or express consent of an FCC Licensee to operate this device. Unauthorized use may result in significant forfeiture penalties, including penalties in excess of $100,000 for each continuing violation.

How it works

how a cell phone booster works
1 - Outdoor antenna

The outdoor antenna receives and transmits signal to nearby cellphone towers. Outdoor antennas can be either directional or omni-directional.

2 - Cellular amplifier

The amplifier (or "repeater") boosts the signal coming to and from and going to the cell phone tower. The "gain" of the amplifier describes how strong the amplification is - you'll see that word scattered across our product pages.

3 - Indoor antenna

The indoor antenna rebroadcasts the signal inside the building. Some kits have more than one indoor antenna to help distribute the signal.
