A pair of 50 Ohm Lightning Surge protectors, for custom MIMO Antenna Kits only.
A lightning surge protector protects your cellular amplifier system in case lightning strikes the donor antenna. A lightning surge protector is highly recommended anytime the system's donor antenna is installed outdoors.
- VSWR: 1.2:1
- N-Female to N-Female connectors
- Frequency Range: DC ~ 3GHz
Your lightning surge protector should be connected to ground using solid copper grounding wire. It should be installed between the amplifier and the outdoor antenna.
This protector is for 50 ohm signal booster systems, which typically utilizes N-type connectors. This Lightning Surge Protector kit includes a 5' jumper cable and a copper grounding wire.
According to the National Electric Code (NEC), a surge protector should be installed as near as possible to the point where the cable enters the house, but not near combustible materials. Since many attic crawl spaces contain combustible material, we suggest installing the surge protector outside the building, near the point of entry. We have included a 5' jumper cable in case the cable needs to be crimped to accommodate this.
The NEC also requires grounding the antenna mast. Tall antenna masts are a prime target for lightning strikes because of their height and tendency to accumulate static electricity. The kits includes a grounding cable. If your antenna mast is painted, you should make sure that you scrape off any paint before attaching this grounding wire.
