Description

The RG440 combines a compact, purpose-built design with high-speed wireless connectivity for mission-critical communication. Ideal for dispatch, lone worker safety, and team coordination, it supports push-to-talk voice, live location tracking, and video capture. Designed for field service, emergency response, and industrial use, it keeps teams connected even in extreme conditions.

Powered by a Qualcomm QCM6490 chipset and running a hardened version of Android, the RG440 supports CBRS Band 48, 5G NR, and Wi-Fi 6. It features a dedicated push-to-talk button, rotary talkgroup selector, and programmable side keys. An 8MP camera allows bodycam-style recording, while GPS and SOS features support lone worker protection.

Despite its small size, the RG440 is tough: it’s IP68-rated, drop-resistant to 1.5 meters, and operates from -20°C to 60°C. Its 2400 mAh battery supports full-shift operation, with fast recharging via USB-C.

This version of the RG440 supports CBRS Band 48 and Sub-6 GHz 5G data connectivity.

Key Features

Voice Communication & Team Coordination

  • A dedicated PTT button, rotary channel selector, and support for third-party MCPTT and voice apps make the RG440 ideal for rapid voice coordination.
  • Programmable keys allow teams to customize workflows.

Rugged Compact Design

  • The RG440 is compact enough for belt or vest carry but built to last.
  • It’s IP68-sealed, drop-tested to 1.5 m, and features Gorilla Glass protection over a 2.4” glove-compatible display.

Connectivity & Positioning

  • Supports CBRS Band 48, global Sub-6 GHz 5G and LTE bands, dual SIM, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and GPS/GNSS for precise location tracking in the field.

Integrated Camera & Safety Features

  • An 8MP camera enables incident documentation or bodycam use.
  • The RG440 also supports SOS alerts, location tagging, and geo-fencing for lone worker safety (via third-party apps).

Performance & Power

  • With 4 GB RAM, 64 GB storage, and a Qualcomm 6490 processor, the RG440 delivers reliable performance across voice, video, and location services.
  • The 2400 mAh battery is field-replaceable and charges via USB-C.

Connectivity Requirements

To operate the RG440 on CBRS or cellular networks, you’ll need:

  • A nano SIM provisioned on a private LTE/5G network or compatible public carrier.
  • Some third-party push-to-talk and lone worker applications may require additional licensing or subscription.

Working with Waveform on cell coverage solutions for Rancho Mirage's City Hall was a refreshingly positive experience! Waveform's team worked closely with us to understand our needs. They went above and beyond by designing an excellent system, communicating well, and supplying all the materials promptly. If only more of my projects went as well as this!
