weBoost, formerly known as Wilson Electronics, is headquartered in St. George, Utah. Wilson have been manufacturing signal boosters since 1999, and in 2015, their consumer signal booster division rebranded as weBoost.
weBoost offers a full range of consumer signal boosters from in-vehicle kits for cars to systems that cover large luxury homes. We’ve sold their products at Waveform since 2007, and over the past ten years, the product range has grown and innovated with new technology, while always offering consistently high quality and high standards.
They also continue to make industrial-grade signal booster systems, under the Wilson Pro brand. You can find the full WilsonPro range here.
We’ve developed this guide to explain what all the different weBoost booster kits offer, and help customers figure out which product can meet their signal needs.
There are two main types of consumer signal booster made by weBoost:
weBoost in-vehicle booster kits (for cars, trucks, RVs, etc)
weBoost in-building kits for homes and small offices
In-vehicle kits improve cell signal in cars, trucks, RVs, boats, and large commercial vehicles for oil/gas/mining/construction. They reduce dropped calls when you’re on the move. They connect in rural and remote locations, reducing signal dead zones. In-vehicle kits improve call reception clarity and data speeds.
Most weBoost in-vehicle kits come in two versions, one which boosts 2G and 3G voice and data, and a 4G version which supports 2G/3G voice and data and also 4G LTE. If you need to boost 4G LTE, you will need a 4G booster.
All weBoost in-vehicle kits support all major US and Canadian cell networks.
Individual kits may vary, and installation manuals (which are linked on every product page) provide detailed product-specific instructions and diagrams. Most kits have an external magnetic mount antenna which attaches quickly and simply to the top of your vehicle. Magnetic mount antennas are portable and improve signal on any vehicle with a steel exterior. They work well on automobiles, pickup trucks, and SUVs and can easily be moved from one vehicle to another. Alternatively, trucker kits have mirror mounts to attach the antenna to the wing mirror. A very thin cable is then run inside the vehicle, usually passed through one of the door openings. This cable plugs into the amplifier unit, which receives power from the in-car cigarette lighter. Add-on hardwire power supplies are also available to allow the amplifier to be installed in the vehicle permanently, no longer requiring the cigarette lighter for power.
The weBoost Drive 3G-S and Drive 4G-S are cradle boosters. They are upgraded versions of the old Wilson Electronics “Sleek” cradle boosters. Your phone sits in a specially designed cradle, which fits all smartphones and virtually all other cell phones.
Please note that this booster will only improve coverage for a single phone. For multiple users, you will need either the weBoost Drive 4G-M or the weBoost Drive 4G-X (see below).
The exterior antenna for both the Drive 3G-S and the Drive 4G-S is the 301126 4" Magnetic Mount Antenna, a dual band antenna with 2.12 / 3.12 dB of gain. It is omnidirectional, made of plastic-coated steel wire, and is fully weather-proof. Magnetic mount antennas are portable and improve signal on any vehicle with a steel exterior.
The weBoost Drive 3G-M and Drive 4G-M are 50dB in-vehicle boosters. They do not require a connection to your phone, or a cradle to hold it. This means that they can support multiple phones, tablets and other data devices at the same time.
The Drive 3G-M and Drive 4G-M will cover a normal vehicle in areas of medium outside signal. Total coverage is dependent upon outside signal strength. When you are driving through an area with very weak outside signal, you may only get coverage up to 2 feet from the internal antenna.
If you need more coverage than this, you should consider the Drive 3G-X and Drive 4G-X, which offer up to 60% greater coverage area than the Drive 3G-M and Drive 4G-M.
The Drive 3G-M uses the 311125 12" magnetic mount antenna, a dual band antenna with 5.12 / 6.12 dB of gain. The Drive 4G-M uses the 301126 4" Magnetic Mount Antenna, a dual band antenna with 2.12 / 3.12 dB of gain. Both antennas are omnidirectional, made of plastic-coated steel wire, and are fully weather-proof. Magnetic mount antennas are portable and improve signal on any vehicle with a steel exterior.
The inside antenna for both the Drive 3G-M and Drive 4G-M is the low profile 301152 antenna. It measures 5" x 1.5” and allows for discreet installation inside your vehicle.
The weBoost Drive 3G-X and Drive 4G-X are weBoost’s most powerful in-vehicle kits. They offer up to 60% greater coverage area than the Drive 3G-M and Drive 4G-M.
Like the Drive 3G-M and Drive 4G-M, they do not use a cradle. They can support multiple phones, tablets and other data devices at the same time.
The Drive 3G-X uses the 311125 12" magnetic mount antenna, a dual band antenna with 5.12 / 6.12 dB of gain. The Drive 4G-X uses the 301126 4" Magnetic Mount Antenna, a dual band antenna with 2.12 / 3.12 dB of gain. Both antennas are omnidirectional, made of plastic-coated steel wire, and are fully weather-proof. Magnetic mount antennas are portable and improve signal on any vehicle with a steel exterior.
The inside antenna for both the Drive 3G-X and Drive 4G-X is the low profile 301152 antenna. It measures 5" x 1.5” and allows for discreet installation inside your vehicle.
The weBoost Drive 4G-X OTR is a powerful large truck booster. It uses weBoost’s most powerful in-vehicle signal booster kit, the Drive 4G-X, alongside weBoost’s new 304414 4G Trucker Antenna. Drivers stay in contact for longer with fewer lost connections and dead zones, better audio quality, and faster data uploads and downloads.
The Drive 4G-X OTR has up to 50 dB of gain and improves voice calls, 2G data, 3G data, and 4G LTE on every major cell carrier in the United States and Canada. It can support multiple phones, tablets and other data devices at the same time.
The outside antenna is the powerful 304414 Trucker 4G outside antenna. It is a ruggedized, all weather omni directional antenna. The included 3-Way trucker mount can fit standard mirror brackets, or mount the antenna to horizontal and vertical bars up to 1" diameter, or mount the antenna to the surface of the vehicle. The inside low profile 301152 antenna allows for discreet installation in the vehicle/truck cab.
The weBoost RV 4G is a 2G/3G/4G/LTE signal booster kit designed for use in a parked RV. The RV 4G cannot be used while driving. If you need a signal booster for your RV that works while driving, please see the weBoost Drive 4G-X.
The RV 4G lets you connect multiple cellular devices to your cell phone network, keeping you connected while on vacation. The outside 314473 panel antenna is attached to the outside of the RV with a suction cup window mount. A cable runs inside the vehicle and connects the outside antenna to the amplifier unit. Another cable connects the amplifier to the 301211 desktop antenna, which rebroadcasts the boosted signal inside the RV.
An optional add-on 311155 indoor panel antenna kit can replace the desktop antenna. The panel antenna offers increased interior coverage. Depending on outside signal strength, the desktop antenna may only offer boosted signal across a few square feet. A panel antenna, mounted to the inside wall of the RV, will usually cover the whole interior. This is a great choice for larger luxury RVs, or if you know that existing outside signal strength will be weak.
The weBoost Drive 3G-Flex is weBoost’s most portable signal booster kit, designed for use both in your vehicle and in your home, office or hotel room. Please note that the weBoost Drive 3G-Flex does not offer 4G LTE support. At the moment there are no 4G boosters that offer the same level of flexibility.
The Drive 3G-Flex comes with everything needed to use it in a vehicle or building, including AC and DC power adapters and antenna mounts for vehicles and building windows. The 4" magnetic mount antenna mounts quickly to either the roof of your car, or to the internal window of a building using the included suction cup mount.
The Drive 3G-Flex signal booster is only designed to boost the signal over a very small area, like the inside of a car. With a very strong existing outside signal, the Drive 3G-Flex will boost the signal up to 3 ft. from the Drive 3G-Flex amplifier. If there is a very weak outside signal, your phone and other data devices will have to stay within 4 to 6 inches from the Drive 3G-Flex to take advantage of the boosted signal.
There are two important things to check when assessing if a signal booster is right for you. The first is quite straightforward - whether you need 4G LTE coverage, or if 2G/3G coverage is sufficient. The second is the level of existing outdoor coverage you have, and the size of the area you need the booster to cover. Determining these figures is explained in great detail in our general Guide to Site Surveys. In brief, the weaker the existing outdoor signal, and the larger the indoor coverage area required, the more powerful the system you will need. A signal booster system’s power comes from the amplifier it uses, as well as the outdoor and indoor antennas included.
weBoost offer a lot of different consumer booster options for all levels of coverage and power required.
The weBoost eqo is an easy to install signal booster kit designed for small interior spaces without access to an outdoor antenna. The eqo is ideal for people in apartments, campus accommodation, condos, or rentals that don’t have access to the roof or can’t mount an external antenna.
It supports 2G/3G/4G/LTE voice and data on all major US and Canadian carriers. It offers coverage of up to 1,200 square feet (i.e. 1-2 rooms).
The eqo does not have a separate outside antenna. Instead, the signal booster unit contains a built-in antenna. This combined external antenna and booster unit needs to be placed where signal is available (usually beside a window).
The weBoost Home 3G and Home 4G are designed to boost signal in your home or small workspace. They boost voice, 3G, and (with the Home 4G) 4G LTE on multiple devices on every North American carrier.
Depending on outside signal strength and outside antenna positioning, it may be possible to get up to 1,500 sq ft. of coverage, but in practice, most installations will only cover one or two rooms inside.
The Home 3G and Home 4G are also suitable for situations like apartment living, where it is not possible to attach an antenna and cabling to the roof of the building. The outside antenna can be attached to the inside of a window, or the wall outside the window, if the roof is not available. The kit includes a ready-to-use suction cup window mount for the outdoor antenna. It also includes a wall mount and a pole mount if you are able to attach the outdoor antenna outside.
The weBoost Home 3G kit’s outdoor antenna is a cradle antenna (311141). The Home 4G kit’s outdoor antenna is the 314473 panel antenna.
The weBoost Connect 3G and Connect 4G are the second most powerful weBoost amplifiers available, and can give you up to 3,500 sq ft of boosted signal. They boost voice, 3G, and (with the Connect 4G) 4G LTE on multiple devices on every major US and Canadian network.
The weBoost Connect 3G comes with a 311201 omnidirectional outside antenna. Omni-directional antennas receive and send signals in a 360º radius. They are best for boosting signal on many different carriers and are excellent in most situations where the existing outside signal strength is moderate to strong. The Connect 4G comes with a 314475 yagi antenna, which needs to be pointed in the direction of the nearest cell phone tower. It’s powerful at picking up weak signal in one particular direction.
The weBoost Connect 3G-X and Connect 4G-X are the most powerful consumer boosters made by weBoost. The Connect 4G-X in particular is an extremely popular kit. They boost voice and 3G data on multiple devices on every major North American network (the Connect 4G-X also supports 4G LTE).
The Connect 3G-X and Connect 4G-X cover up to 8,000 sq ft. if there is strong outdoor signal. With weak outdoor signal, indoor coverage is up to 2,000 sq ft.
Both the 3G-X and 4G-X include the 314411 yagi antenna as the outdoor antenna. Yagi antennas are powerful directional antennas. A yagi antenna needs to be set up pointing in the direction of the cell tower, and because it is directional it will only pick up signal in that direction. We recommend them for situations where existing outside signal is weak, and you only want to boost coverage for one carrier (or if more than one carrier has a cell tower in that direction).
The indoor antenna is the 311135 panel antenna with wall mounting bracket. Panel antennas allow optimum reception to targeted areas.
