Description
The Verizon 5G Network Extender for Enterprise is Verizon’s newest enterprise small cell, alongside the Network Extender 3 for Enterprise. This next-generation model adds 5G NR support, increased performance, and expanded integration options - making it the most capable Verizon indoor coverage solution available.
Designed for enterprise environments that rely on Verizon service, the extender eliminates indoor dead zones by broadcasting a dedicated 5G NR and 4G LTE signal inside your facility. It ensures consistent voice, text, and data performance where the outdoor macro network struggles to penetrate.
Features
- Reliable 5G NR & LTE Coverage Indoors: Eliminates weak signal and dead zones by generating a fresh, high-quality Verizon 5G and LTE signal throughout your building.
- Enterprise Capacity: Supports up to 64 active users and 300 idle users per device, suitable for corporate offices, schools, hospitals, and industrial environments.
-
Scalable Architecture: Covers 10,000 sq ft with internal antennas per device, and can be clustered with multiple units, or integrated into a DAS via 2.2-5 ports
for up to 75,000+ sq ft of contiguous coverage. - Advanced RF & Management Features: 2x2 MIMO, LAA support, external antenna ports, PoE++ capability, and a local admin interface for on-site control.
- Carrier-Approved & Secure: Uses a fully encrypted IPSec tunnel to Verizon’s core network for enterprise-grade security and compliance.

How it works
The Verizon 5G Network Extender acts as a localized indoor cell tower. It connects through your internet connection and recreates Verizon’s network inside your building.
-
Secure, Encrypted Backhaul
Uses an IPSec tunnel over your existing internet connection to securely link to Verizon’s network. -
Broadcasts 5G + LTE Indoors
Generates a dedicated 5G NR and 4G LTE signal, eliminating dead zones and improving voice & data quality. -
Seamless Handover
Devices automatically hand off between the outdoor macro network and the extender with no dropped calls. -
DAS & External Antenna Integration
Four 2.2-5 antenna ports allow connection to external antennas or a DAS platform, expanding coverage up to 75,000 sq ft.
System Requirements
To use the Verizon 5G Network Extender for Enterprise, the following requirements must be met:
-
Internet Connection
Minimum 20 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload speeds (50 Mbps / 20 Mbps recommended for optimal 5G NR and LTE performance. The extender does not require a dedicated connection, as peak utilization is rare. -
Location
The Verizon 5G Network Extender works in all 50 states and most areas of the United States, except for specific counties. Check the coverage compatibility list before purchasing. Note that the device is not functional outside the United States -
GPS Connectivity
Requires a clear GPS signal for accurate timing and location. The included magnetic mount GPS antenna must be placed near a window with an unobstructed sky view. Outdoor antennas can also be used for better signal strength. -
Verizon Enterprise Account
A Verizon Enterprise or Business account is necessary to activate the device. If you don’t have one, select “Registered by Waveform” at checkout, and we’ll handle the registration for you.
-
Compatible Devices
Works with HD Voice (VoLTE) devices, including all iPhone 6 and newer and Samsung Galaxy S5 and later. Most Verizon-certified smartphones and IoT devices released in the last 5–7 years.
-
Firewall Configuration
If installed on a corporate or restricted network, the following ports must be opened to allow communication with Verizon: Ports 50, 500, 4500, 53, and 52428. Alternatively, the extender can be placed in a Demilitarized Zone for seamless operation.
If your building doesn’t meet these requirements or you need multi-carrier coverage, consider one of our cell signal boosters instead.
Account Registration & Service
The Verizon 5G Network Extender for Enterprise must be linked to a Verizon Enterprise account.
Registered by Waveform: We handle registration, provide remote monitoring, and act as your support liaison.
Unregistered: If you already manage your own Enterprise account, you can self-register; Note that this limits our insight into your device and our ability to provide comprehensive support.

Optional Accessories
PCTEL GPS Antenna with Integrated Lightning Protection
If your device is far from a window or in an area with Low-E windows, we recommend an outdoor GPS antenna for optimal signal strength. The PCTel GPS antenna doesn't include any mounting hardware, so this mount kit will take care of that for you.
To integrate an external GPS antenna with your Verizon 5G Network Extender, we recommend the following accessories:
-
Lightning Surge Protector
Protect your device from power surges with an optional surge protector installed between the GPS antenna and the extender.
-
Waveform RS400 Coaxial Cable
You’ll need two lengths of cable - one to connect the GPS antenna to the surge protector and another to connect the surge protector to the extender. -
Waveform SMA-Male to N-Female Pigtail Adapter
This adapter is required to interface the N-Type connectors on the GPS antenna and coaxial cables, with the GPS port on the Verizon 5G Network Extender.
Custom Kit Configuration
While the Verizon 5G Network Extender for Enterprise functions effectively as a standalone solution, it truly shines when integrated into a larger Distributed Antenna System (DAS) or a comprehensive in-building coverage solution.
Designed with scalability in mind, the extender’s 2.2-5 ports allow seamless connectivity to external antennas or a DAS, enabling tailored coverage for facilities of any size or layout.

Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if my Internet connection goes down?
If your Internet connection goes down, the Verizon 5G Network Extender will stop working until the Internet is available. If you need a solution that does not require Internet connectivity, consider a cell booster instead.
Is the Verizon 5G Enterprise Network Extender compatible 1xRTT, 2G CDMA or 3G service?
No, the extender only broadcasts 5G and LTE signals. Most phones released since 2014, including all iPhones from the iPhone 6 onward and Samsung devices from the Galaxy S5 onward, support Voice over LTE (HD Voice), which is required for calls and texts over the extender. Devices without VoLTE compatibility will not work.
Can I use multiple Verizon 5G Network Extenders for Enterprise in the same building?
Yes, you can install multiple extenders in the same building. Devices will seamlessly hand off connections between extenders, providing uninterrupted coverage. Refer to the Deployment Guide.
Can I limit access to the extender to specific users?
No - any Verizon devices in range of the device will connect to the Extender. It can support up to 64 active users and 300 idle users, ensuring sufficient capacity for most environments even with unknown devices connected.
Do I need to configure my firewall for the Verizon 5G Network Extender for Enterprise to work?
Yes, you’ll need to open the following firewall ports: 50, 500, 4500, 53, and 52428. Alternatively, you can place the extender on a Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) within your network for seamless operation.
How do I know if I'm connected to the Verizon 5G Network Extender?
You can check by dialing #48 - you'll hear an announcement stating your connection to the Extender.
Will my call drop if I move in or out of range of the Verizon 5G Network Extender for Enterprise?
No, as long as there is sufficient coverage, your call will seamlessly hand off between the extender and Verizon’s outdoor macro cellular network, ensuring uninterrupted service.
